Golf in Finland
A Golfing Midsummer Weekend in Finland
Why Finland?
Visiting Tampere
Nokia River Golf
Lakeside Golf Vammala
Tammer Golf

Tammer Golf

Tammer Golf is situated just a few miles from the centre of Tampere and was the last of the courses we visited on our Midsummer weekend. No more than a ten minute drive from the centre of town, just as a note if you are planning on driving to the course, it didn't appear to be signposted at all. But as it's right alongside a main road it's easy to spot.

The course is of the reasonably flat, open parkland type and is well established, opening in 1965 making it one of the oldest courses in Finland. Water again being a feature, to a greater or lesser degree on 12 of the 18 holes. The course is 6058m from the back tees and many trees line the course giving the course a woodland type feel in some places.

Key Facts
Opened: 1965
Website: www.tammer-golf.fi
White Tees: 6058m
Yellow Tees: 5734m
Red Tees: 5055m
Greenfee: 40 €

Comprehensive practice faculties are around the clubhouse, including a driving range, putting green and a dedicated chipping green. There is a small pro shop and what looks like a very nice restaurant though as we visited over the Midsummer Saturday this was closed during the visit.

Whilst not having the visual appeal of the other courses we visited, not being located within the countryside, its close proximity to Tampere makes it ideal for an early morning or late evening round. Whilst quite open in nature you'll need to miss in the "right places" if the water hazards and trees aren't to catch you out.

View from the 1st tee - A par 5 dog let to the right, with a stream to the right also. A challenging opening shot of the round.
Driving to the 2nd.
It looks nice but you wouldn't want to hit it here, overlooking the 2nd green.
The drive to the 4th is down this chute, probably the toughest drive on the course.
The par 3 9th. Over a pond...
The putting green in front of the clubhouse, a chipping green and driving range is beyond the trees to the left.
