TRAVEL INSURANCE TEES OFF
Successful
trials of a new travel insurance policy designed specifically
for golfers have led direct insurer, Club Direct, to re-launch
it as part of its central suite of travel policies, rather than
as a specialist option. The move reflects the growing trend for
golfing holidays to destinations such as Spain, Portugal and the
USA.
The
policy combines the full benefits of Club Direct's conventional
travel insurance policies with a comprehensive golf insurance
package, covering equipment, green fees and accidental damage.
It is available either for single trips abroad or as an annual
policy, which provides cover for an unlimited number of trips
over the course of a year. Unusually, whilst it has been designed
primarily to provide all-round cover for foreign holidays, the
policy also covers pre-booked holidays of two nights or more in
the UK.
Under
the Club Direct policy, golf equipment is covered up to £2,500.
A further £400 is included for the reimbursement of green
and club fees, for example where illness or injury prevents a
player from playing. Up to £150 is provided for the hire
of golf equipment if the insured person's is lost or delayed en
route, whilst personal effects and baggage are covered for up
to £2,000. Accidental damage caused to property or another
person, either whilst playing golf or during other holiday activities,
is included within the personal liability cover of £2 million.
As
with all Club Direct travel insurance policies, the new golf policy
includes up to £10 million medical cover, with full repatriation
and air ambulance facilities, as well as a round-the-clock worldwide
medical assistance service. It also provides comprehensive cover
for personal accident, additional hospital benefit, baggage, cash,
loss of passport, hijack, cancellation, delay and missed departure,
as well as £25,000 legal expenses cover.

holiday, either as part of a regular family holiday or on a tailored

The
golf travel insurance is available in a variety of packages, tailored
for individuals, couples or families. Annual policies are an attractive
option, allowing for an unlimited number of trips per year.
One
week's cover for a golfing holiday in Europe costs £27.90,
whilst two weeks is £32.90. Two weeks cover for the USA
works out at £52.90. Family policies, providing full insurance
protection for two adults and unlimited children up to the age
of 18, cost £65 for one week in Europe.
European
annual policies including golf cover cost £66.15 for an
individual, £106.65 for a couple or £120.15 for a
family, providing full cover for an unlimited number of foreign
trips of up to 31 days each during the course of a year.
