KINGSBARNS
LINKS SCHEME
Kingsbarns,
the finest links course to be built in Scotland since Turnberry
re-opened after the war, will be made available at greatly reduced
prices to most local golfers who hold season tickets for St. Andrews
Links.
It
is planned to open the course on Monday 17th July and to run the
"scheme" for eight years with the first fully operational
year starting in April 2001. Prior to then, during an introductory
period, times will be offered to R&A Members in September
and to other local members in October of this year. Individual
golfers willalso be able to reserve times for November and March
from 1st July.
When
the "scheme" is fully operational next year, 4000 rounds
will be available at a discounted rate of less than half the cost
of a normal round.
Sir
Michael Bonallack, The Captain of the R&A and one of those
involved in setting up the "scheme" said: "Kingsbarns
has been constructed on a spectacular and unspoiled tract of land
on the East Coast of Fife. I have no doubt that its development
will not only add to the reputation of Fife as a golfing mecca
but will also be of untold benefit to the courses in and around
St. Andrews.
The
development was undertaken by Granite Bay Scotland Inc with financial
assistance from the R&A.
