TENERIFE
GOLF AT THE BRITISH OPEN
The
large number of developments underway and the current tourist
boom that Tenerife is enjoying, along with vigorous growth in
the quality hotel and self-catering industry and growing specialisation,
all point to an excellent future for the island as a leading new
Spanish golfing destination.
The
growing importance of golf tourism on the island has brought businessmen
and the public sector together to create Tenerife Golf, a new
brand that brings together the island’s six golf courses and 14
hotels, with the aim of promoting golf.
All companies associated to the brand are included in the
Tenerife Golf Guide, which gives comprehensive information about
playing golf on the island.
At
The British Open Golf Tournament, St Andrews 20-23 July 2000 Tenerife
will be launching the new Tenerife Golf Club Guide to the consumer.
Visitors to the Tenerife stand will have a chance to enter
a competition to win a fabulous golfing holiday for two in one
of our excellent hotels, with green fees included and flight from
Luton to Tenerife with Monach Crown Service.
Future
projects include at least two new golf courses on the south west
coast, with spectacular views over the sea and the nearby island
of La Gomera, and a development by the Tenerife Island Government,
in a unique setting in the north west of Tenerife, in Isla Baja. This golf course, designed by Severiano Ballesteros, is set in an
impressive natural enclave and will have a very select, limited
and environmentally friendly accommodation supply.
