TEE
OFF IN TUNISIA
Read
our review of Tunisia
The
growing popularity of golf in Tunisia means long awaited expansion
plans are finally underway.
Work
has begun on the construction of Carthage's second course, opposite
the Residence hotel in Gammarth. Designed by the American Robert
Trent Jones, the course, which will be called 'The Residence Golf
Course of Gammarth', will be an 18 hole links course, in a spectacular
setting with natural lakes throughout the course, as well as views
over the Mediterranean and neighbouring forests. The complex will
also house a 3000mē club house with restaurants and private dining
facilities, and 257 villas.
The
oasis course in Tozeur is also under construction. 18 holes are
due for completion in early 2001 with a further 9 to be added at
a later date.
Hammamet
has been given the go ahead for a third course, and a course is
also planned for Mahdia, although these are still very much in the
planning stage.
