HIGHLAND
ESCAPE
A whole series
of fascinating golf events are planned for 2001 at the Royal Marine
and Links Hotels in Brora in the north of Scotland.
The golf course
at Brora, designed by James Braid, is fast being rediscovered as
one of the great treasures of Scottish links golf. It is a favourite
of five-time Open Champion, Peter Thompson, who is a regular visitor
and the Royal Marine Hotel is the home base for the ‘James Braid
Golfing Society’ which honours the memory of another five-times
Open Champion.
An interesting
four-day qualifying and matchplay event – The Clynelish 4 Day
Open will be played from July 31 – August 3. There will be two
rounds of strokeplay qualifying and for the qualifier up to two
days of matchplay golf.
On August 4
the course hosts the Brora Ladies Open over 18 holes of Medal
competition.
Guests staying
over the weekend of Sunday September 16 at either the Links Hotel
or the Royal Marine will have included free entry into the Links
Open at Brora which is open to men and lady golfers of all standards.
A cocktail party before the event and a Gourmet Dinner on the Sunday
evening are also part of the package.
