Course Set to Expand
Planning permission has been granted
to enable Coed Y Mwstwr Golf Club, near Bridgend in south Wales,
to become an 18-hole course.
Four years after opening in 1994 as
a nine-hole parkland course, the members took out a 30-year lease
and formed a board of directors. In 1999 a further three holes were
opened and now the directors, led by chairman Gareth Summerton,
have negotiated the purchase of an additional 26 acres. This land
will accommodate a further five holes for which the planning permission
has just been granted.
A new par-three hole is also being
created within the existing layout to complete the 18 holes which
will open during the summer of next year.
In order to match the improved course
facilities, the clubhouse will undergo a facelift and expansion.
The club, which is only a few minutes from the M4 motorway, aims
to increase its membership to 600 over the next year or so
