"Ladies
First", says Fife golfing industry
Following on from last year's
successful promotion, the most lady friendly hotels and golf courses in the Kingdom
of Fife have once again shown that they know exactly how to treat a lady, on and
off the golf course. This innovative golfing project, 'Ladies First' promotes
holidays, and in and around St Andrews, designed specially for lady golfers.
"These holidays offer exactly
the kind of accommodation, facilities and golf that ladies are looking for," said
Grizelda Cowan, PR Executive for Kingdom of Fife Tourist Board. "We are confident
that lady golfers from all over the UK and overseas will want to make Fife their
first choice for a perfect golfing holiday, tailored to their needs."
On offer this year are ten
golf courses in the Kingdom including the Scottish National Golf Centre which
boasts an indoor practice area complete with two bunkers and a water hazard. All
the courses, which include historic championship links, charming parkland courses
and some of Scotland's newest fairways, extend a particular welcome to visiting
lady golfers.
When it comes to places
to stay ladies are spoilt for choice. The hand-picked hotels and country houses
are all perfectly located for a golfing holiday in 'The Home of Golf'. All of
the accommodation is peacefully situated in lovely countryside or small villages.
Ladies can enjoy first-class food and excellent service or 'do their own thing'
in a beautifully appointed, well equipped self-catering house.
"By extending a special
welcome to lady golfers, we hope to show them that Fife is the perfect venue for
their golfing holidays," said Sheila Briggs of The Old Station Country House by
St Andrews. "Although we always welcome golfers of both sexes we do feel that
the lady golfer's particular needs are sometimes overlooked and we intend to redress
this balance."
A brochure which gives details
of all the tempting golfing holidays on offer is being sent to all Ladies Golf
Clubs in UK, and can also be obtained from the St Andrews Tourist Information
Centre – Tel 01344 472021. This year all reservations will be handled by Drumgolf
so one call will do it all.
