New Zealand's Newest Luxury Lodge
For Golfers Opens at Kauri Cliffs
Since the Kauri Cliffs golf course opened in February 2000, golf
enthusiasts from around the world have been singing its praises
- rating it up there with Wentworth and Ballybunion. And they're
set to do so yet again. The luxury lodge at Kauri Cliffs was officially
opened in January, which will provide premium accommodation for
the travelling golfer.
Set on 4,000 acres of rolling coastal farmland near Matauri Bay,
Northland, on the North Island of New Zealand, the Kauri Cliffs
golf course was constructed to harmonise with the natural features
of the land. Six holes are played alongside the cliffs that give
the resort its name, and all boast dramatic views of the Pacific
Ocean. Designed by David Harman, a respected name in international
golf course design, the par 72 championship golf course measures
7000 yards (6398 metres).
The new Lodge will also benefit from Kauri Cliffs' spectacular setting,
featuring stunning views over the golf course and Pacific Ocean
from its broad verandas, lounge and dining room. Eight outlying
cottages, each with two separate guest suites, provide accommodation.
Additional amenities include tennis courts, a swimming pool and
spa, and a fully equipped fitness centre.
Green fees are charged at £125. Accommodation at Kauri Cliffs Lodge
costs from £260 for a double suite, dinner and breakfast. For further
information on both the golf course and Lodge, visit www.kauricliffs.com.
