New Zealand Summer Programme
It's late spring in New
Zealand - our summer starts in November and keeps right on until late April. Already,
the weather is warm, the birds are singing, flowers and trees are well into leaf
and flower, the first
asparagus and other spring vegetables are on the table and summer outdoor activities
are underway. In fact, right now I can see a small flotilla of children's yachts
skittering around a buoy on a sparkling sea outside my office window!!
XtravagaNZa continues to offer top quality, personalized, guided tours for small
groups of top end, high net worth travelers.
Obviously the events of the past five weeks have had an effect on bookings, but
we are reassured by international reports. Our national Sunday newspaper, Sunday
Star Times, 13.10.01, had a report that said readers of UK magazine Wanderlust
www.wanderlust.co.uk
have voted New Zealand the safest country ahead of Australia and Canada, while
Conde Nast Traveller www.cntraveller.co.uk
scored New Zealand highest in safety in its September issue.
Wanderlust says "New Zealand is a worthy winner that lives up to its reputation
for rarely disappointing its visitors." It also says "When British people go to
New Zealand, it's very easy, very little hassle, very little crime on tourists
- it's a country which really lives up to expectations and probably surpasses
them."
This year we are offering four exciting itineraries:
1. The Northern Adventure takes guests by helicopter to the far north,
where golf, eco tourism and a wide variety water sports are offered. Here guests
swim with dolphins, walk through primeval forests, fish for marlin and groper,
dive on the Rainbow Warrior (the Greenpeace vessel sunk by French spies) and play
golf on championship golf courses.
2. The Volcanic Experience starts off with a visit to a live volcano, then
heads to a secluded lodge on an awesome crater lake teeming with giant rainbow
trout, and with deer and pig in the hills, waiting for wily hunters. Highlights
include bathing in natural hot springs near a thermal wonderland of geysers and
bubbling mud pools.
3. The Capital Discovery
shows off the best of the central part of New Zealand, and capital city Wellington.
Guests can play Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club, host to Tiger Woods in January for
the New Zealand Open, visit a bird sanctuary on an untouched island and stay at
one of our top wine regions to taste our award winning pinot noir and sauvignon
blanc wines.
4. The Southern Traverse takes us down to the South Island, amazing mountain
resorts, salmon rivers, golf at Millbrook where ex-President Clinton played, jet
boating on the wild Shotover River and even a sail in a deep and
magnificent fjord.
All our visitors are accommodated in top quality lodges, hotels and luxury
private homes, they travel in helicopters and limousines and are offered the very
best of our gourmet foods and wines.
Guests select what they want to do - we do all the rest. Our focus is on 'soft'
adventure tourism supported by top quality accommodation and travel. Thus we partner
with a range of suppliers, from charter boats, country clubs, helicopter operators,
fishing and hunting guides, wineries and so on. We build customized vacations
around our guests' requirements. All tours are fully guided.
We still have a small number of places for the New Zealand Golf Open between
7 - 13 January 2002, which will be played less than 500 meters from our offices
and home. This promises to be a hugely exciting event for us. Again, details are
available on request.
Best wishes from the sunny Southern Hemisphere. www.nz-golf.com
