New Nine at Vila Sol

One of the Algarve's finest golf clubs, Vila Sol, has opened a new nine-hole layout to complement its existing 18 holes.

Architect of the original course, Donald Steel, was brought in to design the nine-hole extension, to ensure it continues the spectacular and testing nature of the main course.

Built so that the club could cater for the demand which in recent years has been too great for the 18-hole course alone, the new layout is, if anything, more challenging than the original 18.

The new design features large tees, narrow fairways, fairway trees in treacherous positions and greens with heavy bunker-protection. Two enormous lakes have also been built to ensure that the equation is not short of wet hazards.
