Officials at a Kent course reckon they can provide the perfect corporate day out - because their greens hardly ever close.

Hever Golf Club spokeswoman Louise Funnell said: "We have found that more and more groups visit our course every year through the winter months because they know we pride ourselves on our 'No temporary greens or tees' policy.

"Many courses within the Kent and Sussex area last year closed for days and some for many weeks at a time due to the torrential rain we experienced through the winter months.

"But Hever closed for only two days, which proved the efficiency of its excellent drainage system and made it the perfect location for that winter golf day."

Hever's new Millennium brochure will include society and corporate packages from £31.50 per person - a price that includes a glass of mulled wine on the 10th.
