SHRIGLEY
HALL TEES UP FOR THE OPENING
OF THE NEW CLUBHOUSE
Shrigley
Hall Golf & Country Club near Macclesfield in Cheshire celebrates
today (May 29) the opening of a new £3/4 million clubhouse.
Owned
by Paramount Hotel Group, the new complex at Shrigley Hall is part
of an extensive programme of refurbishment across the Group's nine
UK hotels.
Shrigley
Hall's head professional Tony Stevens, who played the European Tour
from 1984 to 1992, said the new complex made Shrigley one of the
most desirable destinations for corporate and club golf in the UK.
"With over 500 members and a thriving corporate golf event
programme, Shrigley has developed a strong reputation on the golfing
scene. The new club house enables us to create more space for large
corporate golf events and a real club atmosphere for members."
Reflecting
Shrigley Hall Hotel's 4-star rating, the two tier clubhouse is constructed
from woodland log. Set on the edge of the wood adjacent to the Hall
itself, it provides stunning views across the lake and 18th tee.
The development also includes a new Pro-Shop, greenkeepers complex,
30 new buggies and pathway for easy access to different parts of
the course.
The
changing area has the capacity for up to 120 golfers with ample
lockers and showers to cope with major corporate events. The function
suite has a bar, dance floor and capacity for 120 guests. It will
be available for event dinners and evening functions as well as
private parties and club social events.
The
new members bar and lounge has relaxed sitting areas with access
to the club house veranda. A range of cuisine, meeting the famously
high standards of the hotel, will be served throughout the day and
up to 9.00pm in the evening.
Shrigley
Hall's golf manager, Jason Harney comments: "We're delighted
that the new Shrigley club house is open for business, on schedule
and in time for the busy spring/summer season. We developed the
new complex in answer to considerable demand, particularly from
the corporate golf sector, and in order to bring the golfing experience
into line with the very high standard of the hotel."
Shrigley's
championship course is a par 71 designed by Donald Steel who is
a leading advisor to many high profile European ventures including
St Andrews Royal and Ancient Golf Club. Shrigley Hall has 150 en-suite
rooms and offers excellent leisure facilities including a recently
completed new conservatory bar.
