Myself and some friends are going on a 'Stag Do' to York and as we all play Golf were going to play 1 day (a Friday). What in your opinion is the best course to play around there (Green fees can be anything around the £50 mark) Many thanks Ian Mayall

Editor: I would thoroughly recommend you to use Falford - the address is Heslington Lane, York, tel 01904 413579, as you can find out from looking at our golf course directory for Yorkshire (north). The course is only a couple of miles from the centre of York, for many years it a was the home of the Benson & Hedges tournament on the European Tour. It is a very friendly clubhouse and having played it a number of times I would thoroughly recommend it. The other course close to York is referred to by locals as Strensall but is actually called York GC. Whereas Falford is south of York, Strensall is about 4 miles north. It's a good course and if for any reason you can't get on at Falford would be a good alternative.
