A new resort in St Vincent & The Grenadines, The Carenage Bay Beach & Golf Club, will offer a paradise for golfers in the heart of the Caribbean when it officially opens in November.

The jewel of the resort is an 18 hole, par 72 golf course, designed by Roy Case, with breathtaking views of the ocean surrounded by one of the largest coral reefs in the Caribbean. Contained within 65 acres - half on the gently sloping coastal plain and half beautifully sculpted out of the hillside of the bay - The Carenage Golf Club offers golfers a truly unique and exciting golf course.

Golfers enjoy a vertical journey of over 600 feet during a complete round. The course offers 18 holes of great variety, enough to test all your shots on a course that plays 6300 yards from the back tees to a par of 72. Elevated greens, blind second shots, tight fairways and and small greens are what is in store after the confidence building first hole.

The most stunning views can be found at the fourth and eighth holes. The tee shot layed down from the fourth towards the ocean gives golfers the feeling that the ball is being launched rather than played to the fairway below. The par five hole at the eighth, which overlooks the whole resort, plays down from about 120 feet above sea level along the ridge of a rocky promontory to a green that is surrounded on three sides by the sea below, and from the 16th tee, the distraction created by looking down across the coastal reef will tax even the most dedicated golfers.

Golfers looking to improve their swing can take classes with a professional instructor, practice their skills on the driving range offering panoramic views, or simply swap tips on the "driving range" bar or the resort's stunning 19th hole bar overlooking the 18th hole. A fully equipped Golf Pro Shop can also be found and Titleist DCI rental clubs are available.

Set in its own private 800 acres of unparalleled natural beauty, featuring secluded white sand beaches, the luxurious 178 suite/villa property provides the ultimate international retreat in the beauty and tranquility of this exclusive island.

The resort features a dedicated sports area at Godahl Bay which offers watersports, three day and night tennis courts, beach volley ball, and a restaurant. Other facilities include relaxed dining at the Beach Club with restaurant, bar and one of the largest swimming pools in the Caribbean, a gourmet Italian restaurant, and a fully equipped fitness centre with massage and treatment rooms. High on a hill overlooking the sea with sweeping views over the resort and the reef, an exclusive French style casino will also be open to guests and members offering a night club, restaurant, as well as the usual Club Prive facilities.

Canouan, just three square miles, is located just a few miles from Mustique and the Tobago Cays Nature Reserve, and is accessible by air from Europe and North American through six major gateways - Barbados, Grenada, Martinique, St Lucia, St Vincent and Thailand.
