SYDNEY:
The Home of Five Rings and 216 Great Holes.
The Coast Golf Club
The
Coast Golf Club
is one of the hidden gems of Australian golf. Tucked in behind
the stark red brick buildings of Prince Henry Hospital, The Coast
offers panoramic ocean views from almost every tee and a layout
of holes only Mother Nature could have created.
Despite
the views, only a few holes have the ocean as a hazard. The par-4
15th is one of them. The back tee, which is the size
of a postage stamp, is about 175-yards from the fairway...located
on the other side of a craggy ocean inlet. This is no place for
the faint-hearted and is reminiscent of the small championship tee
on the 9th hole of the Ailsa course at Turnberry. Luckily
the forward tees require much less muscle and accuracy from the
tee. Davey Jones' locker awaits just metres to the left of the fairway
for its entire journey to the green. Sticking to the right of the
fairway is just as dangerous with sandy lies under the trees proving
treacherous.
