SYDNEY:
The Home of Five Rings and 216 Great Holes.
Concord Golf Club
 |
The
main Olympic site is west of the CBD in the geographical heart
of the city, on the banks of the Parramatta River. The closest
course (about two kilometres) from the hub of the Olympics
is Concord Golf Club – a private club that has hosted
several tournaments including the Australian PGA and is the

practice
base for professional Craig Parry when at home.
|
The
course has been rebuilt in recent years and is one of the best-presented
layouts in Sydney with big greens and rolling fairways. The fairways
are tight and large Australian native trees provide plenty of hazards.
There are some quality holes with large bunkers providing plenty
of protection for most greens – like the 175-yard par-3 4th.
The huge green offers plenty of pin positions and a two-putt is
never guaranteed.
